I bought this because I ran out of HDMI inputs on my Samsung Plasma and my AV receiver has Optical inputs only, no HDMI.
The pre-purchase help received was outstanding and shipping concerns quickly put to rest.
For the price, this kicks #ss, I am very happy with the build quality and visual looks as compared to some other HDMI/Optical switches out there.
I now have my SHAW HDTV Box, PS3, LG Blu-Ray Player and an ASUS O!Play all connected and working flawlessly. I find no degradation of video signal at all. Tho the unit is equipped with a video equalizer if you are running long cable lengths and need to adjust the signal.
All in all, a very nice unit to which I am extremely happy I purchased.

Great product for the money |

This is a great HDMI+Toslink switcher for the money.
I was looking for an inexpensive switcher that had both HDMI and Toslink built into it without spending too much money. My older receiver has Toslink, but no HDMI inputs, and I didn't want to buy a new AV receiver just to get HDMI inputs. This switcher allows you the ability to send the video to your TV via HDMI and the audio to your receiver via Toslink. You must run both HDMI and Toslink cables to the switcher for this to work.
It works great with the PS3 Slim and DirecTV receivers. Its compatible with the Harmony remotes.
When you order, make sure you order enough HDMI AND Toslink cables AT THE SAME TIME so you get everything at once. I had to place a 2nd order for cables because I didn't have enough.
Overall, its a great product for the money and it works right out of the box.

Having scoured the net for an HDMI/Toslink switcher with hardly any results, I was relieved to find HTDepot. Not only did they carry exactly what I needed, it was at a great price and offered shipping to Canada.
The switcher works like a dream and has allowed me to set up all of my devices the way I'd envisioned when I purchased them.
But by far what makes HTDepot stand out above all others is the great customer service. There are very few sites that have high customer service standards and fewer still that go above and beyond. HTDepot made sure I was completely satisfied with my purchase and handled my case with amazing speed and courtesy.
It has been a delight to deal with HTDepot from placing the order to receiving and beyond. Great prices, fast shipping, excellent customer service.
I would like to thank everyone at HTDepot for making this such a wonderful experience and wish you all the best of luck in the future. You can count on my patronage.

I was suspicious of the low price, but bought based on the good reviews. This thing works great! I have a Denon 5803, and now I can vastly simplify the cable setup and remote control issues.
My only (minor) complaint is that the channel buttons on the remote and on the unit are reversed from the status lights i.e. Channel Up actually makes the next light down light up, which is momentarily confusing.

Works great!!! Fast Shipping!!! Highly recommended!!!
Using with Samsung HLN-507W via HDMI - DVI cable. Optical audio to Onkyo receiver.
Devices used:
Apple TV firmware 2.3 running Boxee and XMBC Roku Netflix Streaming Box Off Brand DVD Player Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD cable box

To get your Apple TV to work you might need to change some settings on your television. I noticed that on my television the scaling switched to "Wide PC" when the Apple TV was plugged in via HDMI - DVI cable (nothing to do with this HDMI switch). This forced the resolution on the Apple TV to something strange. When I changed the scaling back to "Wide TV" everything looked fine.
